Job Title Product Tool & Die Engineer
Description 02/26/13 - The Product Tool & Die Engineer is responsible for the Designs of PM Products and Tooling Key Responsibilities: Health, Safety, and the Environment o Support health, safety, and environmental initiatives in accordance with GKN Sinter Metals methodology while leading by example People o Work cross-functionally with other areas including plant engineering, RPPC, quality, tool shops, continuous improvement, and value streams o Live the vision, mission, and values of GKN to team and plant(s) o Participate in training opportunities Product Design o Participate in local design for new or changing products in Teamcenter o Participate in the ERFQ process as necessary o Identify product design requirements and risks o Participate in Know-How Transfer between plants and regions o Assist in gauging design and coordinate with quality department Tool Design o Create new potential tooling designs and assess associated requirements & risks o Participate in local design for new or changing tooling in Teamcenter o Participate in Know-How Transfer between plants and regions o Help manage tool repair, maintenance, and continuous improvement Continuous Improvement o Assist in the development of new product design and tooling design ideas o Participate in a culture that fosters continual improvement and removes waste o Help to identify ways to increase tool life and reduce wear o Participate in VA/VE activities and assist in cost reduction activities and design improvement o Participate in BPE events as necessary Data o Use Teamcenter for data management of product and tooling data o Manage data transfer to and from tool shops within Teamcenter o Manage data transfer between plants and regions within Teamcenter Perform other duties as assigned Other key internal relationships: Plant Engineering Managers, Plant Managers, Sales Team Formal qualifications required: Bachelors Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience Prefer a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the Powder Metal (PM) industry with exposure to a manufacturing environment using a lean, cellular, and reduced inventory production system Basic skills or knowledge in Product & tool design, CAD systems, Teamcenter PDM system, MPIF standards, and problem solving Basic understanding of PM manufacturing processes including compacting, sintering, and sizing Computer literate with proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
Salary Range $65,000.00 to $90,000.00
